Impacts - Spring & Summer 2024

This spring our group repair events increased significantly and kept steady throughout the summer. We continued to grow our individual volunteer roster, and of course, saved many, MANY pounds of furniture from the landfill. Our efforts are not going unrecognized based on the encouragement and feedback we receive from our supporters, partners, and beneficiaries. Thank you to everyone who has contributed their time, effort, and of course, FURNITURE to our cause!

Repair Events & Volunteers Continue to Multiply!

  • The springtime months held 55 repair events, including 30 corporate and group teams, more than double our group events from the previous quarter. The warmer summer months hosted 53 repair events, including 22 corporate and group teams, plus two furniture collection events at the South Transfer Station. Companies included Microsoft, REI, Amazon, Pariveda, Precisely, Salesforce, Expedia, Google, Cephid, Dreambox, Starbucks, Nestle, Bee Organized, T-Mobile, Expedia, Infosys Consulting, Identity Digital, Aiberry & CAC Group, BECU, Guy Carpenter, and Link Logistics. Organizations that joined us for repair days included the Washington B-Corp Collective, graduate students from the University of Washington Evans School, one altruistic MeetUp group, PNW Climate Week attendees, and 60 Seattle residents participating in the One Seattle Day of Service in May! We even hosted a birthday party when one of our motivated supporters organized her friends for a volunteer day to celebrate (Happy Birthday Tammy!). The pics below are just a sampling of the motivated teams that joined us, including some of the pieces they were proud to work on. Thank you all for your hard work and time with us!

  • New individual volunteers sign up to join our mission every day, and our roster of regulars continues to grow! The workshop also hosted many teen volunteers this summer earning their community service hours for high school. It means so much to our team to be able to pass on these valuable skills to others in the community and the next generation.

Serving Our Community

  • From April through June we donated 173 furniture items to 86 people from 25 families in Seattle and surrounding communities.

  • From July through September we donated 267 furniture items to 100 people from 35 families in Seattle and surrounding communities.

Thanks to the hard work of our team and hundreds of volunteers, our output continues to increase monthly. We could not serve as many people and prevent as much waste as we do without the time and generosity of our amazing volunteers and waste-conscious donors who send furniture our way (instead of to the dump!).
