Group Event FAQs

  • No skills are required to join us as we teach every aspect of the process.

  • The only day of the week we do NOT host group events is Monday. Our Repair Calendar is regularly updated to reflect currently scheduled group events, open Repair Days, and collection events. If there is a single scheduled event on a day you are interested in, there may still be availability for another group shift. We also still host group events on Thursday Repair Days.

  • We can host your team for either a morning (9 or 10 am start) or afternoon (1 or 2 pm start). Later afternoon events starting at 4 pm may be available if your group can only volunteer after standard work hours.

  • We host group events for teams with a minimum of 5 or more. In May through September, we can host up to 30 volunteers at a time, and up to 20 in October through April. If you have a group that exceeds these numbers, we can split into morning and afternoon shifts.

  • We welcome volunteers of many ages and abilities at the Repair Bank! Teens ages 14 to 17 are welcome to join with parent or guardian permission on their volunteer form or liability waiver. Kids ages 11 to 13 are welcome to volunteer together with their parent or guardian.

  • We recommend a 3 hour long event. If interested in a day long activity, we can incorporate a mid-day break with snacks and chats.

  • Participants will have a few different options of furniture restoration activities to choose from such as painting, staining, sanding, and upholstery deconstruction and reconstruction. They will break out into smaller groups of 3 to 7 (depending on the total of people attending). They are also able to switch projects part-way through if they'd like to try something new!

  • We recommend clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty as some tasks may be messy. Closed-toed shoes are required. In colder seasons we encourage layers as we occupy a high-ceiling, warehouse-type space.

  • Yes, there is a ramp on the south end of our building entrance.

  • We are located in SoDo at 1914 Occidental Ave S, Unit C, Seattle, two blocks south of T-Mobile Park. We have limited parking and encourage carpooling or public transportation.

  • We do not require payment for group events at this time. As a nonprofit mission, if your company or organization offers volunteer grants (Dollars for Doers, Matching Time, Grants for Time, etc.) or other compensation for nonprofit volunteer experiences, these funds are greatly appreciated. If so, once your date is scheduled with us, please set up the event within Benevity for the administration of these funds or inquire with our staff about how to make a donation.

  • We would love that! Here is a group volunteering summary document to share with friends and colleagues. Please leave us a review on Google after your experience to share with even more people!

Corporate Matching Gifts & Volunteer Grants

Participation in our corporate volunteering program is free, but as a non-profit, we appreciate and benefit from in-kind and monetary donations.

Many companies provide charitable matching or volunteer grant programs that can double the impact of donations and time. If you are volunteering with a non-work-sponsored group, please check with your employer to see if they offer these benefits.

Support our efforts by donating.

What partners are saying

“Tremendous event – all the volunteers were so grateful to be able to be involved in the work and had only nice things to say. Very impressed with how organized you all were given that it was your first event. WOW!”

— Jaxie Friedman, Sustainability Manager, Atomo Coffee

“Our delivery team was very touched by being able to first hand meet the families that were being impacted by the restoration donations, it was something that they will look upon fondly for many years to come. Our on-site restoration team had so much fun, either pushing their skill sets to the limit in a completely different way or just being able to contribute in a more creative way than we have been able to in the past. All participants have provided positive feedback and were very pleased that they were able to volunteer. Thank you all so much!”

—Kyron Rose, Sr. Regional SCM, Amazon Box Truck Network

“Thank you so much for welcoming us into your space and sharing your knowledge with us. It was so fun to learn new skills and work alongside all of your wonderful people. We are all looking forward to our next trip to the workshop!”

—Jerad Allen, Office Manager, SHKS Architects

“It was such a great time; my team loved it. Love Xenia and her story of how the organization got started! It's inspiring to hear before starting the work, including the number of families/pieces of furniture completed each month. What an amazing vision/organization. We’ll be back.”

— Sarah Ama, senior supply planner | GCA, Greener Apron, Starbucks
